ITHACA — Soon, Ithaca’s West End might see a new theater building full of local artists.

The Cherry Arts Space has finished funding for the building, and are moving along in the building permit process.

Samuel Buggeln, the artistic director of the company, says now they’re in the middle of funding for the necessary furnishings.

“We’re a not for profit organization, and we’re doing a fundraiser to outfit the space right now to make sure we have a really good setup of theatrical lights and sound effects and equipment and chairs and all that sort of thing, so we can make it the best space it can be for the artists coming in,” he said.

Buggeln says the new space could be used for nearly any type of production.

“It’s conceived from the ground up as multidisciplinary, so it’ll be a place you can go to easily see music or theater or dancing, a concert, an opera, really any sort of thing,” he said.

Those looking to help with funding can visit the Cherry Arts Space page, and donate to the PayPal, or buy a chair for the audience.
