Cortland County Sheriff’s deputies say a man flipped a car in Homer Monday afternoon, after pretending to be interested in buying the car.

The owner and the suspect went for a test drive before 3 p.m., and that’s when the suspect, identified as Kahari Thomas, said he’d like to get behind the wheel.

As the two were about to switch seats, Thomas allegedly got in first and sped away, and the owner was left standing on the side of the road.

Deputies say a short time later, the suspect eventually hit a ditch and flipped the car near Wolf Road and Route 90 in Homer.

He suffered a minor cut to his face, and now faces a number of charges.
