Hometown Heroes Rules


WQNY 103.7 “Hometown Heroes” is a web contest where listeners are invited to nominate a First Responder at https://1037qcountry.com/who they feel is doing an outstanding job. Starting Monday April 6, 2020 at 6AM to Monday, April 27, 2020 at 9am People will be able to submit the name and a short response as to why The First Responder should be our “Hometown Hero of the day” Winners will be chosen at random by a Cayuga Radio Group staff at the end of each day and announced on the next business day. Nominators will be contacted by phone if their nominee is chosen. The only “prize” is a shout out on the Air for the person nominated and why they were nominated. Entries not selected will be retained for subsequent drawings. Nominees may only win one time. WQNY is not responsible for any error, problems, or delays in the telephone, internet, or streaming systems with this contest. WQNY has the right to change the contest rules at any time. Listeners must be 18 years or older to win. Cayuga Radio Group maintains ultimate discretion over the selection of winners.

One entry per person per week. Submitting more than one entry per person will invalidate all entries by that contestant. Any entry submitted on behalf of another individual or using another person’s email address or name will be disqualified and ineligible to claim any prize. Any attempt by any participant to obtain more than the stated number of entries allowed by using same, multiple/different email addresses, identities, or any other methods void that participant’s entries and that participant may be disqualified. in the event of a dispute as to any on-line registration, the authorized account holder of the e-mail address sued to register will be deemed to be the registrant and he/she must be eligible according to these official rules. No mechanically reproduced or automated entries permitted. Use of any automated system to participate is prohibited and will result in disqualification and all such entries will be deemed void.

WQNY contests are open to all eligible New York residents 18 or older have not won anything on WQNY in the past 30 days or any prize valued at $600 or more in the past 6 months. Only one winner per household is permitted within 30 days after a household has a winner. Any prize awarded to an ineligible listener will be deemed null and void, and an alternate eligible winner may be named.

Employees of WQNY, Saga Communications of New England, LLC, Cayuga Radio Group, and its ultimate parent company, Saga Communications, Inc., their advertising agencies, affiliates, contest sponsors, employees and immediate families of each, and employees of all media of mass communication within a one hundred mile radius of the WQNY main studio are not eligible to win any contest.  Immediate family includes the spouse, great-grandparents, grandparents, parents, brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren of the employee and his/her spouse. This also includes individuals for whom the employee is current legal guardian.

This contest is being conducted on WQNY in Ithaca New York which is affiliated with Cayuga Radio Group.

No purchase necessary. Prizes are not transferrable or redeemable for cash. WQNY sole responsibility will be to award the prize of a shout out on air for the Nominated Person and the reason they were nominated. WQNY shall have no further responsibility in connection with the prize if the prize winner, for any reason, cannot or decides not to use any of the prizes. Winners will be responsible for all applicable federal and state taxes. Fees and incidentals are not included and will be the sole responsibility of the winner.
