Murder investigation underway in Finger Lakes

JERUSALEM, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities have launched a homicide investigation after a body was found in the woods in a Finger Lakes town.

The Yates County Sheriff’s Office says the body of a white male was found around 8 a.m. Wednesday in the town of Jerusalem, just west of the village of Penn Yan.

The body was taken to the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy to determine the cause of death and identify the victim.

State police are assisting the sheriff’s office in the investigation.
