OVID — Police in Seneca County say two people were hurt in a two-car accident Tuesday along Route 96.

County sheriff’s deputies say Remy Babineaux, a 52-year-old man from Ovid, was driving a van up County Road 129 when he didn’t stop at an intersection with 96. That lead to him hitting a car driven by 24-year-old Kaitlin Tharp, an Ithaca woman.

Deputies say Babineaux had face and head injuries and was taken to a hospital in Rochester. Tharp was taken to Cayuga Medical Center after she said she had leg pain, and both vehicles were heavily damaged.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
