Two teenagers from Cortland have died, and a third is hospitalized, following a rollover crash on I-81 Friday night.

State Police say around 7:30 p.m., 17-year-old Andrea Czimmer of Cortland lost control of her car in the passing lane of I-81 southbound in Preble. Police say her car went into the grassy median and rolled over several times.

Czimmer was pronounced dead at the scene. The rear passenger, 17-year-old Alexis Porter of Cortland, was ejected from the vehicle, according to police. She was taken to Upstate University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Police say the front seat passenger, 18-year-old Michael Conlon of Cortland, suffered rib and other internal injuries, and is now in stable condition at Upstate University Hospital.

Police haven’t said anything about a cause of the crash, as the investigation continues. State Police were assisted at the scene by state DOT crews, the Cortland County Coroner and the Preble Fire Department.

The highway was shut down for hours Friday night as police investigated the crash.
