Binghamton man charged in Cortlandville stolen check investigation

CORTLANDVILLE, N.Y. (WHCU) – A Binghamton man is facing a pair of felonies in Cortland County.

36-year-old Joseph Carpenter was arrested Friday, July 7, 2023, stemming from a fraud investigation in the Town of Cortlandville. Investigators say Carpenter possessed and cashed a stolen, forged check from a local business in March 2023. Carpenter is charged with grand larceny and criminal possession of a forged instrument. He is scheduled to appear in Cortlandville Town Court on Wednesday, July 12, 2023.
