CAROLINE, N.Y. (WHCU) – Caroline will benefit from state funding.

The town is receiving nearly $360,000 in the latest round of Water Quality Improvement grants. They’ll use the money for two culvert projects, replacing the South Road culvert, and stabilizing the Braley Hill Road culvert.

Work at South Road will stabilize eroding streambanks and a scour pool. A larger culvert will be put in to withstand increased storm flow.

Work on the Braley Hill Road culvert will stabilize streambanks and create a cascade at the culvert outlet with step pools that will reduce a perch that’s nine feet high.

Both projects will improve water passage in the Upper Susquehanna watershed.
