Cornell announces traffic, parking impacts for Dead & Company concert

ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – Cornell is gearing up for the Monday, May 8, 2023, Dead & Company concert.

The school announced multiple traffic impacts, including planned road and parking lot closures that run from the morning of Sunday, May 7, 2023, through the morning of Tuesday, May 9, 2023. Officials say thousands of guests are expected for the event.

Garden Avenue from Campus Road to Tower Road will be closed from 7:00 a.m. Sunday, May 7, through 8:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 9. This includes the ILR parking lot, Barton Hall parking spaces, and FLEX parking spaces.

Parking LotPermit holders will be able to access certain areas until 3:00 p.m. on Monday, May 8, after which the areas will be restricted to concert ticket holders. The roads and parking areas include Campus Road from Hoy Road to Judd Falls, the Alumni Field Lot, Wing Drive, and the Hoy Road parking garage.

From 4:00 p.m. to midnight on Monday, May 8, Campus Road will be closed from Feeney Way to Wing Drive. Hoy Road will be closed from the traffic info booth to Campus Road. Hoy Road from the Dwyer Dam Bridge to the south entrance of the parking garage will be restricted to concert ticket holders.

The Hoy Road parking garage, and the Crescent, Bartels, Lynah/Teagle, Kite Hill, and Alumni Field lots will all be reserved for paid concert parking from 4:00 p.m. to midnight on Monday, May 8.

School officials say the event could require more closures and changes to traffic patterns without warning.
