Five Trumansburg businesses targeted in break-ins, burglaries

Police say five businesses in Trumansburg were broken into and burglarized early Wednesday morning.

Trumansburg Police Chief Tom Ferretti says sometime between 1 and 5 a.m. Wednesday, two people broke into a number of stores and shops and made with off with an unknown amount of cash.

The same people appear to be connected to all five incidents, Ferretti said.

Businesses that were targeted include Family Dollar, T-Burg Liquor, Not My Dad’s Ice Cream, Subway and Brownie’s Vegetable Stand.

In all of the cases, the suspects smashed through doors or windows to gain entry.

Tompkins County Sheriff’s Investigator Jody Coombs said Thursday that their department is working with Ithaca Police to see if these recent burglaries are related to a number of summer break-ins in the city.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Trumansburg Police at (607)-387-6505 or the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office at (607) 266-5420.

Coombs said they plan to release video footage of at least one of the break-ins. Check back for more details.
