ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – Ithaca’s Common Council has chosen a candidate to fill a vacancy in the Third Ward.

Former Alderperson Donna Fleming was approved to serve until the end of the year.  Fleming will take over for Alderperson Jeffrey Barken, who announced he’d be leaving Ithaca at the end of the month back in February.  Alderperson Rob Gearhart also represents the Third Ward and was part of the Third Ward Vacancy Committee. He says the city is lucky to have Fleming.

Fleming was voted in unanimously by Common Council.
