SKANEATELES, N.Y. (AP) — A young girl and her father have been injured in a boating accident on one of the Finger Lakes in central New York.

The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office says a 17-foot boat was towing an 8-year-old girl and her father on an inner tube when the accident happened Wednesday evening on Skaneateles Lake.

Sheriff’s deputies say the boat made a turn, apparently misjudging where the two were in the water, and hit them.

The girl was taken to a hospital with serious injuries. Her father also was taken to a hospital with injuries that are believed to be non-life-threatening. Their names were not immediately released.

The investigation is ongoing.
