WATKINS GLEN, NY (WHCU) – A hiking trail at Watkins Glen State Park has reopened.

The Gorge Trail was forced to shut down on Saturday night after being compromised by a landslide on the Lovers Lane Trail. Multiple first responders and emergency services units were deployed. WENY-TV reports two hikers became stranded and had to be rescued. The pair were uninjured and reunited with their families.

The trail reopened on Memorial Day after extensive cleanup efforts and safety checks.
