GROTON — A Groton man who was hit by a car last week has died in a Syracuse hospital.

39-year-old Robert Pless passed away Saturday after several days in critical condition. Police say Pless had been walking in the middle of the northbound lane of Route 38 when he was hit by the car, and that the driver couldn’t have avoided hitting him.

Police still don’t have any details as to why Pless might have been walking in the roadway.
