Ithaca apartment building fire under investigation

ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — The cause of a fire inside an Ithaca apartment building Sunday afternoon remains under investigation. 

Assistant Fire Chief Jim Wheal says multiple crews arrived around one o’clock to the 500 block of Lake Street. Firefighters found the fire in the ceiling and a third-floor bedroom. After about a half hour, the fire was extinguished.

One person was hospitalized. Lake Street reopened at 2:15.
