ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — There’s an illness going around Tompkins County.

Medical Director Dr. William Klepack says cases of Legionnaire’s Disease are increasing.

He says the illness commonly stems from cooling towers.

“Think of those things on the top of large buildings that cool the indoor air for their air conditioning,” Klepack says.

He adds hot tubs are another source of the disease.
