ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — The Ithaca Jungle remains a concern for Ithaca officials.

Alderperson George McGonigal says the homeless encampment behind Warehouse Carpet & Flooring is dangerous. He says a man and his dog were recently stabbed there.

McGonigal is calling on Common Council and Ithaca Police to do a better job criminalizing illegal activities in the Jungle.

“We have to address this,” he says. “If we continue to ignore it, we’re cowards.”

McGonigal adds drug activity in the encampment area is rising.
