Monkeypox less contagious than COVID, officials say

ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — Health officials are closely watching for signs of monkeypox.

A small number of presumptive cases are popping up in parts of the country, including New York City.

Dr. William Klepack is the Medical Director for Tompkins County. He explains how the disease differs from COVID.

Klepack adds monkeypox is less contagious than COVID.

He says the disease is generally confined to Africa.
