OWEGO, N.Y. (WHCU) – New York State Police have announced a 13th person has been charged in connection with the murder of an Ithaca man.

On Monday, 41-year-old David Maycumber, of Newfield, was indicted in Tioga County Court. Maycumber has been charged with 1st-degree murder, 2nd-degree murder, kidnapping, and intimidating a witness. Up until this week, 12 people had been charged with felonies in the abduction and killing of Thomas Rath earlier this year.

Rath was allegedly abducted from Ithaca’s Jungle encampment in May. His remains were discovered on state property in the Town of Candor on August 3 after a summer of unsuccessful searches.
