ITHACA — Police say they’ve arrested a man wanted for stealing cash from the Cornell Store located on Ho Plaza on campus.

Nicholas Bennedum, 33, was arrested August 19th after he was located on a train by a Nebraska State Patrol investigator. Police say Bennedum was on a train heading from Ohio to Colorado.

Cornell Police say Bennedum had a large amount of cash on him, which is believed to have been stolen from the Cornell Store.

Police were called August 8th after employees of the store reported that someone had entered the vault there, tampered with evidence, and stole an undisclosed amount of money.

A source confirmed to WHCU that Bennedum was an employee of the store.

He now faces felony grand larceny and burglary charges. Cornell Police say Bennedum was extradited from Nebraska to Ithaca by Tompkins County Sheriff’s deputies, and is being held on $14,000 cash bail. He’ll answer to the charges in court on Monday.
