ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) — The Southern Tier is under a flood watch.

Heavy rain began falling last night, which the National Weather Service says may cause minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. The rain is expected to continue falling throughout the day before transitioning to snow tonight.

The flood watch remains in effect until midnight.
