State Police: Cortland man, officers exchanged gunfire on Homer Ave.

CORTLAND, N.Y. (WHCU) — State Police have released new information about a shooting in Cortland.

The Cortland County Sheriff’s Office was at the house Monday on Homer Avenue for a reported eviction but were confronted by a man with a gun. Troopers and Cortland Police responded.

Despite efforts to deescalate, authorities say the man fired at officers in the home. They fired back and wounded the man, whose name has not been released. He remains in stable condition.
