HOMER, N.Y. (WHCU) — A 15-year-old girl faces a charge after a deadly December crash.

State Police say the girl, whose identity is being withheld because of her age, was recently charged with criminally negligent homicide. The crash on I-81 in Homer resulted in the death of a 16-year-old passenger.

Authorities say the four youths had escaped from the William George Agency in Freeville and stole an SUV. The 15-year-old driver allegedly ran a red light on State Route 281, then failed a stop when a deputy tried pulling them over.

16-year-old Salena Wallner was pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers, 15 and 16-year-old girls, along with the underaged driver suffered serious injuries.
