Tompkins County corrections officer allegedly assaulted by inmate

ITHACA, N.Y. (WHCU) – Charges for an inmate after allegedly attacking a corrections officer in Tompkins County Jail.

Authorities say on July 1st, 24-year-old Abraham Phelan intentionally flooded his cell and “severely” attacked an officer delivering cleaning supplies. The officer was transported to Cayuga Medical Center. Phelan was being held on a class A misdemeanor forcible touching charge out of Ithaca. He is now charged with felony assault.
