A woman has died from her injuries after falling up to 100 feet at Taughannock Falls State Park on Friday.

State parks officials have not released the woman’s name, but say she was 24 and from Trumansburg.

Fire and rescue crews were called around 4 p.m. Friday to the South Rim Trail of the
park. A report had come in around that time regarding concern for a person’s welfare in that location. However, parks officials would not confirm further details on Monday.

“The woman was airlifted to Upstate Hospital in Syracuse,” state officials said in an emailed statement. “Park police continue to investigate the circumstances of the incident.”

Officials believe the woman fell somewhere between 80 and 100 feet, and fire crews needed over an hour to bring her back to the trail.

The woman died Saturday from her injuries.
