WAVERLY, N.Y. (WHCU) — The death of a Waverly teen is being felt across the school district.

Superintendent Doctor Eric Knolles tells WENY-TV the passing of 17-year-old Peyton Shaw in a car wreck is a heartbreaking loss. Shaw, who was a senior at Waverly High School, was killed when the car she was riding in Tuesday in Newfield rear-ended a Jeep and was hit by another vehicle.

Knolles says Shaw was a leader both inside and outside the classroom.
