CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) — A local business is moving into a larger space.

Area 51 currently sells trading cards, board games, and action figures in the Cortland Corset Building on East Court Street. The business will soon move to the former JOANN location in the Riverside Plaza.

Area 51 Operations Manager Megan Crowe said the increase in foot traffic will be beneficial.

“Just by nature of location, it’ll give us a huge boost,” she said. “We’ll have much more awareness in the community and be much more visible to attract more customers,” she said.

Inside the store, there’ll be more tables to play card games like Pokémon and Digimon.

“All of the popular games that bring our crowds into the space now will have a much larger space, and we’ll be able to expand the number of events that we hold,” Crowe said.

The new location will also have a membership area where people can play foosball, cornhole, and other games. Memberships will be available on a daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly basis.

Crowe said the goal is to open the store at the beginning of September.
