Binghamton cop shot suspect during scuffle, chief says

BINGHAMTON, NY (607NewsNow) — An officer-involved shooting is under investigation. 

Binghamton Police Chief John Ryan says an investigator found an armed man Thursday afternoon on Amsbry Street. There was an altercation, and Chief Ryan says the officer fired one shot to the man’s ankle.

The suspect is being cared for under police supervision, and the officer was also treated. Ryan says his department is working with the DA’s office.

Charges against the armed man are pending.
