Binghamton FD rescues hiker after 25-foot fall

PORT CRANE, NY – (607NewsNow) – One person is recovering after a rope rescue in Broome County.

On June 4, the Binghamton Fire Department was called for mutual aid to Port Crane after a report that an individual had fallen 25 feet into a creek.

The person suffered several injuries in the fall, which happened the previous evening, and had been exposed in the creek bed for many hours. Firefighters used a basket rescue stretcher and ropes to lift the victim out of the small gorge.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
