Gaudet lost his life fighting a fire on February 12, 2025, in Binghamton. He was an 11-year veteran of the Binghamton Fire Department and father of three.

A man authorities say caused the blaze, Patrick Shea, was charged with arson and second-degree murder in March.

Gaudet was also honored locally on October 8 during the Binghamton Fire Department’s Annual Fallen Firefighters Memorial Mass at St. Paul’s Church.
