BINGHAMTON, NY (607NewsNow) – A Binghamton man accused of a hate crime is facing more charges.

On June 23, State Police arrested James Crosby for a Facebook post directed at State Senator Lea Webb in which he said, “I’d be proud to hang her from a tree.”

The arrest came just two days after the Binghamton City Democratic Committee called for an investigation into Crosby, saying his comment warranted a full threat assessment. On June 22, Crosby took to Facebook to apologize for his comment, claiming it was not intended to be racial. He was charged with making a terroristic threat, which is a felony.

During the investigation, troopers say they found two firearms, a large capacity magazine, and a silencer in his possession. Due to a previous felony conviction, Crosby is prohibited from having guns.

Crosby is charged with four felony counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
