ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — The Cornell field hockey team is introducing its new student-athletes.

Six freshmen are joining the Big Red this coming season. Cornell Head Coach Andy Smith said the newcomers have potential to make an “immediate impact” on the program.

Three of the freshmen are from Pennsylvania. Among them is midfielder Rebecca Block, who was named the 2025 National Player of the Year by MAX Field Hockey.

The lone goalkeeper of the group is Claire Pausz. The New Jersey native was a two-year captain at Point Pleasant Borough High School.
