Cortland County man involved in work zone collision

GREENE, NY (607NewsNow) – A Chenango County work zone crash involving a Cortland County man is under investigation.

On August 14, troopers say Kenneth Alberts, of McGraw, was traveling west on State Route 206 in Greene just before 3 p.m. when he failed to maintain his lane and struck a survey worker in a closed section of the road.

The 59-year-old Alberts immediately called 911 and is cooperating with State Police. He was issued traffic tickets.

The victim, a 34-year-old man from Monticello, was knocked into an open door of his vehicle upon impact. He was airlifted to SUNY Upstate Medical University and is in critical condition.

The NYSP Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene to assist with the investigation, which is ongoing.
