CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) – A member of Cortland County law enforcement is climbing the ranks.
On August 25, Sheriff Mark Helms announced that County Officer Mercedes Slade has been transferred to the Criminal Investigation Division and promoted to Investigator Sergeant.
Slade joined the Cortland County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) Uniformed Patrol Division in 2017. She remained there for roughly six years before joining the Marathon Central School District as a school resource officer (SRO) at Marathon High School in 2023.
Sheriff Helms adds that Investigator Sergeant Slade will now attend extensive training courses for her new role.
