Cortland K9 officer to retire after 2 years of service

CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) — Cortland Police is saying goodbye to a K9 cop.

Canine Officer Max is retiring earlier than expected after a recent chronic health diagnosis. The Cortland Police Department says Max, who’s been certified since Sept. 2023, “demonstrated exceptional dedication and faithfully served the department with honor and distinction.”

A walk-out ceremony for Max will be held tomorrow at 2:45 p.m. at the Cortland PD building on Church St.
