Cortland lawmakers adopt 2026 budget in contested vote

CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) — Budget talks in the Crown City are in the rearview.

On Dec. 16, the Cortland Common Council adopted the 2026 spending plan. It includes a 2% salary increase for current, full-time city workers who aren’t represented by a union.

The budget passed in a 5-2 vote. Alderperson Tom Conlon and Alderperson Bill Carpenter voted nay.
