Cortland man accused of stalking former co-worker, officers say

CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) — A Cortland man is behind bars on stalking charges.

According to the Cortland Police Department, Patrick Rich was caught trying to track the day-to-day activities of a 62-year-old woman, who has an order of protection against him. Rich is accused of repeatedly trying to locate the victim, who’s moved out of the Cortland area.

“Mr. Rich and the female victim were former co-workers, however do not have nor have they ever had any relationship,” officers said.

The 57-year-old was arrested Tuesday, March 24 on several charges:

  • FELONY: 2 counts of criminal contempt (1st degree)
  • FELONY: 1 count of stalking (2nd degree)
  • FELONY: 1 count of offering a false instrument for filing (1st degree)
  • VIOLATION: 1 count of harassment (2nd degree)

Rich is scheduled to appear in Cortland City Court on Wednesday, April 1.
