Cortland man charged following Main Street crash

CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) – A Cortland man is facing charges after allegedly causing a crash.

On July 28, Cortland Police responded to a collision at the intersection of Main and Tompkins Street around 11 a.m.

Investigators say 22-year-old Matthew Eckstrom was speeding, ran two red lights, and drove into an oncoming lane through a construction zone before striking a Subaru. Two people were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Eckstrom is charged with reckless endangerment, reckless driving, and two counts of assault, as well as multiple vehicle and traffic violations.

The investigation is ongoing.
