Cortland man charged in Halloween stabbing

CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) – Two people are recovering, and one person is charged after an alleged stabbing in Cortland.

On October 31, Cortland Police were called to a disturbance possibly involving a weapon just before 10 p.m. at a residence on Delaware Avenue.

When officers arrived, they detained two suspects but did not locate any victims. A short time later, people with stab wounds arrived at Guthrie Cortland Medical Center. They were transferred to Upstate University Hospital due to the severity of their wounds. Their condition has been upgraded from critical to stable.

From witness interviews and evidence collected at the scene, 22-year-old Alex Green, of Cortland, was arrested and charged with two counts of felony assault and two counts of misdemeanor criminal possession of a weapon.

The investigation is ongoing, and CPD asks anyone with information to contact Detective Sergeant Sean Byrnes at (607) 753-3001.
