Cortland PD announces death of K9 Officer Max

CORTLAND, NY (607NewsNow) – The Cortland Police Department is paying tribute to a fallen K9 Officer.

On April 25, K9 Officer Max passed away peacefully at home.

Max retired from service in January after receiving a terminal diagnosis. He lived out his days with his partner and handler of 2.5 years, Officer Alexander Perkins. According to a Facebook post, Max was laid to rest in one of his favorite spots in Perkins’ yard.

Cortland PD thanked the community for its support since Max’s diagnosis.
