CORTLANDVILLE, NY (607NewsNow) — A retail expansion project in Cortland County is moving forward.

On July 28, the Cortlandville Planning Board granted site plan approval for Walmart to build a 7,174-square-foot addition. The space is meant to support online pickup and delivery operations.

Located on Bennie Road, the store currently contains 199,792 square feet. The addition is set to be constructed along the west side of the building.

Before construction begins, the project still has to clear one final hurdle: An aquifer permit must be approved by the Cortlandville Town Board. Board members are next scheduled to meet on Aug. 5 at 5:30 p.m. at the Raymond G. Thorpe Municipal Building.
