CORTLANDVILLE, NY (607NewsNow) – Major damage avoided in Cortlandville.

On April 24, the Cortlandville Fire Department responded to a field fire on Sweeney Road around 11 a.m.

Officials say approximately 2 acres burned, and the blaze was extinguished in about 30 minutes. The Homer Fire Department provided mutual aid, and the Cortland County Department of Emergency Response and Communications assisted at the scene.

The statewide brush and debris burn man remains in effect through May 14.
