Crews battle house fire in Lansing

Update (8:20 a.m.) — Firefighters found one person dead inside the home, according to New York State Police.

LANSING, NY (607NewsNow) — A house fire in Lansing is under investigation.

Authorities responded to a home on Asbury Road before 6 a.m. today. Smoke was seen coming out of second-story windows.

Multiple agencies were on the scene, including the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, Bangs Ambulance, and the Freeville Fire Department.

Shortly before 7 a.m., Tompkins SIREN alerted drivers that Asbury Road between Warren Road and Collins Road was closed to all traffic. The roadway reopened around 2:30 p.m.
