DA: Ithaca man indicted in Cayuga Heights murder

ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) — A grand jury is indicting an Ithaca man for murder.

Tompkins County District Attorney Matt Van Houten says Damian Stewart is charged with first-degree manslaughter and second-degree murder. Prosecutors say Stewart, who’s 20, stabbed Breanne Keane to death in Cayuga Heights on May 23, 2026.

Stewart has remained in the Tompkins County jail since his arrest. Keane was 19 years old. Stewart was indicted on Thursday, June 18.

According to Van Houten, the murder charge carries a maximum sentence of 25 years to life.
