LOCKE, NY (607NewsNow) – One person is dead after an accident in Cayuga County.

On July 20, deputies responded to Route 38 in Locke around 7:10 p.m., just south of Tucker Hill Road, for a one-vehicle crash.

The preliminary investigation found that an SUV being driven by 65-year-old Lester Doolittle was traveling north when it crossed the center line and left the roadway, striking a tree. Doolittle was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the NYSP, Cayuga County 911, Four Town Ambulance, and Locke Fire Department.
