ELMIRA, NY (607NewsNow) — Parking meters are being pulled in Elmira.

City officials say the shift to free, two-hour parking means easier access to new restaurants and businesses that have opened recently. WENY-TV reports the process to remove parking meters from downtown Elmira began in August and finished on Black Friday.

City Manager Michael Collins says profits from parking meters this year were ‘significantly low.’
