Fatal bike crash under investigation in Auburn

AUBURN, NY (607NewsNow) – State Police are investigating a fatal bicycle crash in Auburn.

On August 31, State Police were called to State Route 5 and 20 near Veterans Memorial Parkway for a report of an accident involving three vehicles and a bicycle.

Troopers say a 41-year-old cyclist attempted to cross Route 5 and 20 at Veterans Memorial Parkway around 8 p.m. when his bike was struck by a westbound pickup truck. He was then hit by two other vehicles.

The man was taken to Auburn Community Hospital, where he later died. According to the investigation, the truck that initially collided with the victim’s bike had a green light, and there are no indications of impairment involving any of the drivers.

State Police have not yet released the victim’s identity.
