GENEVA, NY (607NewsNow) – A Geneva City lawmaker facing drug charges will return to court next month.

Councilor Ahmad Whitfield, who was arrested earlier this month, made his first appearance in court on January 28.

The 45-year-old, who was granted pre-trial release on January 12, is accused of possessing and selling about an ounce of cocaine. Whitfield’s attorney, Joseph Lobosco, tells the Finger Lakes Times there are “glaring weaknesses” in the case, and he’s confident there will be a positive outcome.

Whitfield’s case is adjourned until February 25.
