ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – Tompkins County health officials are seeking information about a dog bite.

On August 31, a person was bitten between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. near the area of Birchwood Drive and Hanshaw Road in the Town of Ithaca.

The biting dogs are believed to live in the area, appear well-cared for, and are fairly young. They are described as a black lab with a pink collar and a possible Dalmatian mix; the victim could not tell which one did it.

Health officials want to confirm the animals’ vaccination status. If the dog is observed to be healthy, doctors can rule out rabies post-exposure treatment for the victim.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Environmental Health Division at (607) 274-6688.
