ITHACA, NY (607NewsNow) – The Tompkins County Whole Health Department (TCWH) is asking for assistance.

The TCWH Environmental Health Division is trying to locate a dog that bit someone on May 2.

The incident happened around 8 p.m. in an open field across from Ithaca College’s Emerson Hall. A person was walking their dog when another approached, and a small fight ensued. The person was bitten while attempting to separate the dogs.

The biting dog, which was unleashed, is described as a medium to large black lab, accompanied by a white woman, possibly in her 20s. Health officials want to rule out rabies infection and post-exposure treatment.

Anyone with information is asked to contact TCWH Environmental Health at 607-274-6688.
